Tech Fleet is migrating from Slack to Discord! Growth and Development Guild has led the charge. Tech Fleet has carefully configured Discord to make it easy to use, and more elegant than Slack. We've worked for the past year to configure, test, and validate the features and setup.
In short: we're doing this to better serve our community members.
Discord offers way more features that are better for a community experience than the Free version of Slack. We've "hit our limits" as a community in Slack. Discord offers more personalized and powerful capabilities that community members can use.
Slack will be "decommissioned" for community use.
We will keep it up in September 2024. After which, we're going to remove all members and channels.
Slack will be the official company tool for Tech Fleet. The Board of Directors and employees of the nonprofit will use Slack from now on. The community will use Discord from now on.
For the community, Slack for Tech Fleet will be around for the month of September 2024.
For the employees and Tech Fleet board of directors, Slack will be used as a community chat tool forever more.
