In order to do this, you need the Mentors role in Tech Fleet Discord.

Roles in Discord are like hats: if you wear the hat, you have access to special channels or special abilities. This means that you can control what you see and what you do in Tech Fleet Discord.

Here's what you need to know about Mentors in Tech Fleet:

A group project mentor gives at least one hour a week to mentor a project. They can choose the project they mentor. It's based on who requests a mentor from active projects. Projects are eleven weeks, and we open new projects to apply to every month.

Please note: having the Mentors role does not mean you're on a team yet. It means you can see the alerts to openings for projects as a mentor. It also means you get channels for guidance as someone who is mentoring projects. You still need to respond to the need for a mentor on a project and be selected by a Project Coordinator. Getting the Mentors Role is the next step towards joining a team. Learn the entire process in this video.

Tech Fleet highly recommends Observing as the first step to interacting with the community, and a first step to joining projects. We offer this for anyone in the community. Check out the other video we've made, Getting Ready to Observe. It tells you what you need to do in Discord to start observing projects.

Finally:

How does someone start being a Mentor on projects in Tech Fleet?

  1. Step 1: Obtain the "Projects" role in Tech Fleet Discord. This role opens up channels for you to further decide how you want to be involved on projects.
