What are Agile Maturity Measurements?

Agile maturity measurements help a self-organized team measure how agile their operations are. These are based on the different facets of the Agile Manifesto and the steps to create self-actualized agile teams.

Why Are They Valuable?

Measuring agile maturity is valuable because:

  • It helps a team self-heal when they are performing waterfall practices instead of agile practices.

  • It helps identify potential areas of improvement for team operations.

  • It creates a safe space for the team to hold psychological safety and be vulnerable with their potential issues as a team.

How Are They Made?

  1. Get together after every sprint

  2. Hold a retrospective workshop

  3. Use the Workshop template to measure how often a team:

    1. Followed the Agile Manifesto

      1. Interacted with individuals to figure out work over making a perfect plan before starting work.

      2. Delivered working UX results to clients and to users to figure out their priorities through feedback.

      3. Collaborated with each other, with users, and with clients to define requirements over making contracted agreements.

      4. Responded to change over following a plan that didn't make sense to follow.

    2. Followed the Agile tenets of strong Agile teams

      1. Created a psychologically safe space for voices on the team

      2. Acted as service leaders to each other (apprentices and co-leads)

      3. Organized themselves and made their own governing decisions through consensus

      4. Failed fast and continuously improved

      5. Iterated on their value delivery

Who Maintains Agile Maturity Measurements?

The Scrum Master function on a team owns this deliverable throughout a project.
