When you are participating in Tech Fleet projects, you are a trainee learning how to work in an Agile cross-functional team environment.
Apprenticeships in Tech Fleet are meant to be a safe environment to learn how to do something for the first time. People training on teams should not expect to carry out perfect work, like in the real world jobs. This is not a job, this is an apprenticeship training.
While we work with real nonprofit clients, the work we do is not fast or expert-focused as our teams are built of people who are learning to do this for the first time.
Clients who partner with Tech Fleet do not expect expert-facing work to be produced. They work with Tech Fleet to give back to and provide opportunity for first-time learners in training.
People on this team are considered trainees.
This means:
They are considered to be in an apprenticeship training.
They are not considered volunteer workers of Tech Fleet or of the client.
They are not considered employees of Tech Fleet or of the client.
They are unpaid in their training for the purposes of getting Agile team experience while learning.
They do not require to pay anything to receive apprenticeship training.
They are not required to work certain amounts of hours or time frames, but teams expect members to put in 15 hours a week with the apprenticeship team doing work.
They are on the apprenticeship team for the purposes of learning and experience building, not to carry out expert skills.
They are able to use the deliverables from the project on a case study or portfolio for the purposes of showcasing their experience to get hired.
At the end of their training, they are not guaranteed future training positions.
At the end of their training, they are not guaranteed employment or volunteer positions by Tech Fleet or the client.
When providing your Tech Fleet experience on resumes, it's important to list Tech Fleet as the organization under which you trained. You can showcase the kinds of team functions you did and the nonprofit clients you partnered with in your training.
